Jacki Lakin, City Deal Project Directors, said: "We had a fantastic response to our call for grant applications earlier this year – our delivery partners all have their own specialisms and their projects meet the gaps and needs of the areas we are working in we are excited to have a diverse range of providers offering innovation as part of the Working Together pilot.”

The eight delivery partners are: Bilston Resource Centre, Gazebo, Black Country Training Group, Dudley MBC – Adult Community Learning Team, Ideal for All, Age UK, Black Country Housing Group and Walsall Adult Community College.

As part of the wider City Deal offer – the ‘Working Together’ pilot project, being led by Accord Group, aims to increase the employability and employment of 2,800 long-term unemployed and economically inactive Black Country social housing tenants and move 900 of them into work over a 3 year delivery period.  The pilot will operate within specific geographical areas:-

  • Walsall - Darlaston South
  • Wolverhampton - Bilston East
  • Dudley - Kates Hill
  • Sandwell - Princes End.

It will deliver a holistic "Journey to Work” programme which will pull together the key partner organisations and deliver tangible results for employers, employees, housing providers as well as delivering on the wider growth, Welfare to Work and government’s deficit reduction agendas.

The delivery of this project will:-

  • Be based on individualised need and provide support designed to address specific barriers.
  • Commission relevant services through a robust grant application process to ensure that additional services are complimentary, add value and do not duplicate what is already on offer.
  • Bring together local packages of support.
  • Strengthen outreach work and engagement with the hardest to reach using a Community Champion model.
  • Signpost to other provision to maximise impact / ‘additionality’ by providing a seemless service to customers.
